Kemah Hosts Community Watch Party for World Cup Team Draw

The World Cup is coming to the US this summer, and the Houston area will be right in the middle of the action. With excitement building across the region, the big question now is which teams will be facing off and where. To help the community follow the action from the very start, a public watch party for the World Cup Team Draw will be held Friday, December 5, at 11 a.m., at Fish and Chips Houston, located at 609 Bradford Ave #109 in Kemah. The public is invited to gather as matchups are revealed live. Free parking will be available at the City Lot on 6th Street.

For the first time since the United States hosted in 1994—still the record holder for World Cup attendance—fans have the chance to witness the journey unfold from the beginning. The Team Draw serves as the official kickoff to the Cup, setting the stage for who will compete, when they will play, and how this global event will unfold.

“This is a special moment for fans and for our entire region,” said City Administrator Cesar Garcia. “Bringing people together to share in the excitement of this event is what makes it special, and Kemah is the perfect place for families and fans to make lasting memories during this historic occasion.”

Kemah plans to be a hub for World Cup energy—from hosting the Team Draw watch party to welcoming fans throughout the tournament at local restaurants, businesses, and waterfront destinations.

This community event is made possible through the support of City of Kemah / Discover Kemah, Fish & Chips Houston, the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership (BAHEP)—partners committed to promoting community connection, hospitality, and regional collaboration.
