Overview: 

The Starport Facility and Grounds Lead will be responsible for assisting with overseeing maintenance of fitness, conference center, cafeterias, gifts shops, sports fields, pavilions, running trails, and auxiliary spaces. The position will oversee facility specialists, general contracting, and grounds maintenance staff as well as serve as the Alternate Facility Manager for NASA Exchange. Facility support is a core function that touches 5 lines of business and impacts every customer that walks in every Starport door, parking lot, or field. A skilled Facility and Grounds Lead has to have a strong ability to work with a team, work independently, manage multiple tasks, prioritize constantly, and perform consistently.


Responsibilities:

• Supervise and mentor all full-time and part-time employees, interns, and contractors.

• Develop plans for indoor and outdoor facility care, operation, equipment replacement and development of new facility spaces.

• Maintain log of open/closed work orders for internal and external projects.

• Maintain, store, inventory, collect and repair equipment needed for conference facility rentals, retail, fitness, sports, field care, creative learning and youth programs. Act as property custodian for NASA assets distributed to the Exchange.

• Responsible for daily inspection of all facility spaces to ensure safety, proper operation and cleanliness.

• Orders materials, supplies, and equipment for indoor/outdoor regular and preventative maintenance.

• Applies professional turf grass standards to determine to the effectiveness of maintenance programs and operations.

• Provide effective communication between associates, coordinators, directors, managers, contractors and civil servants.

• Ensure compliance with all Starport, JSC, and NASA policies and procedures and with all local, state and federal laws.

• Assist the Facility Manager with additional duties as assigned. Serves as Acting Facility Manager when Facility Manager is unavailable.


Required Qualifications:

• 2+ years of progressive facility maintenance experience

• 2 + years staff management experience required

• Valid driver’s license with work experience delivering products using a straight box truck with a weight capacity up to 15,000 lbs.

• Demonstrated success in personnel training and supervision

• Demonstrated ability in strategic facility management.

• Knowledge of Windows based computer system and Microsoft applications.

• Successfully demonstrated ability to design, create, develop, and implement programs, policies, and procedures from concept to operation.

• Ability to multi-task. Can manage multiple tasks at one time; quickly and accurately shifts attention among multiple tasks under distracting conditions without loss of accuracy or appearance of frustration.

• Shows willingness and aptitude to use own discretion in taking appropriate steps in finding solutions to problems; presents options and ideas to enhance current processes or procedures.

• Willing to work with others, collaborating and compromising where necessary; promptly shares relevant information with others.

• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.

• Strong knowledge of workplace safety and OSHA standards. 


Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years working in a fitness center, higher education recreation, municipal recreation, MWR or corporate wellness environment.

• Some college or Associate degree preferred in Recreation Administration or other equivalent area with related experience.

• Experience in the setup and breakdown of special events, sporting events and conference facility events.

• Experience with ActiveNet facility scheduling or recreation management software.

• Current First Aid, CPR/AED certification required 


Job Type: Full-time 

Pay: $42,500.00 per year

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred) 

Experience:

• Maintenance: 2 years (Required) 

License/Certification:
