About

The Sailing Angels Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity, is most unique and the Only charity of this kind in the entire USA … and perhaps, the world!

Blessed by the community’s outstanding support, our all-volunteer team has served more than 25,000 individuals with special needs since our beginning, and 3,247 ‘specials’ in 2023. We Make A Difference but it “Takes a Village” to Make It Happen!

Our Mission is laser focused on providing compassionate Health Wellness for the vast community of individuals with Special Needs: those with cognitive/physical issues, military & first responders, high anxiety & depression, the bereaved, victims of domestic violence, homeless & downtrodden, at-risk youth, and those imprisoned as well as their loved ones.

Regardless of one’s age, illness, needs or ethnicity, we have Never turned away a single individual!

We introduce this experience in the form of cruising on boats. Teaching sailing to our special needs individuals has proven to be an exhilarating experience, yet calming, tranquil and highly rewarding…for our “special ones”, their parent(s)/caregiver(s) as well as those of us who serve them. Everyone is offered the opportunity to participate to the best of their ability.

No one in our charity is salaried. With more than 200 volunteers and the financial support by so many, we provide our entire service FREE, up to 360 days/year. Most of our service is offered on 40+ boats cruising on Clear Lake and Galveston Bay. As well, some needy individuals cannot come to us and thus, in turn we serve them at their location.

Our unique financial model has always allowed us to manage our Administrative Overhead to well below 4% — almost unheard of for a charity! Hence, at least 96 cents of each dollar donated goes towards the desired intentions!

We would have never achieved these outstanding results without the generous support from our growing community! (We do not solicit nor accept financial support from the government; our philosophy is that if the community values our charitable compassionate service, then they will support us financially … and they have!)

For 2024, our plan is to serve 3,500 individuals with special needs. To achieve this, we require $74,500 to cover our operational budget.
