After 15 years of Seabrook Rotary expanding Clothes for Kids in December, we have decided to add CIA (Clothes in August)! We have invited Bay and Robinson Elementary to help us kick off CIA with 30 kiddos, each! We will need ~120 shoppers! We need volunteer shoppers. The kids’ parents are not invited. This is all about the kids. If you sponsor a Kido or 7 ($250 per child) or whatever you can, they will donate $15,000 for Clothes for Kids! Her dad was in prison and her mom moved to Florida and she was living on the neighbor’s couch. The first thing we did was go buy socks and underwear. She hugged them and started crying. For the rest of our excursion every time we would go to a new section, right back to the cart to touch the socks and underwear to make sure they were still in the cart. She only had one set of underclothes so every night she would wash their clothes in the bathroom sink and leave them out to dry for the next day. In the USA if you graduate from High School, get a full-time job, and don’t start a family until you do the first two, you have a 98% chance of not living in poverty. How can we help the kids stay on track? How can we help them not standing out to their classmates? How can we show them that we care? How can we show them that there is a different way? How can we help break the cycle?
